Is algae-derived omega-3 actually as effective as fish oil?
+
Yes — clinical research confirms algae oil omega-3 has statistically equivalent bioavailability to fish oil for raising EPA and DHA plasma levels. A 2024 published clinical trial found microalgal oil was non-inferior to fish oil for this purpose. The difference is source purity and dose concentration, both of which favour algae.*
Why does Korra Lab®'s capsule deliver more EPA and DHA than standard fish oil?
+
Standard fish oil is about 30% active omega-3 — the rest is other fats from the fish. Microalgae-derived oil can be concentrated to deliver significantly higher EPA and DHA per gram because there's no fish flesh lipid "noise" to dilute it. Korra Lab®'s 1,000mg capsule delivers 333mg EPA + 167mg DHA = 500mg active omega-3, compared to the typical 300mg from fish oil.
Why do fish oil capsules cause fishy burps — and does Korra Lab® cause them?
+
Fishy burps are almost always a sign of oxidised or low-quality oil. Fresh omega-3 shouldn't taste or smell fishy. Because Korra Lab®'s algae oil is (a) not derived from fish, and (b) stabilised with natural mixed tocopherols to prevent oxidation, the vast majority of customers report zero fishy aftertaste or burping. If yours smell fishy, the oil is rancid.
Is this product halal?
+
Yes. Korra Lab® Vegan Omega-3 is halal certified. The algae source, extraction process, and softgel capsule (carrageenan and vegetable glycerin-based, not gelatin) all meet halal standards. The product is completely free from fish or any animal-derived active ingredients.
What is the difference between EPA and DHA, and why does dose matter?
+
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) is the primary anti-inflammatory omega-3 — most relevant to cardiovascular health, triglyceride management, and inflammatory regulation. DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) is the structural omega-3 — the backbone of brain cell membranes and retinal photoreceptors. Both matter. Most fish oils provide 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA per capsule. Korra Lab® provides 333mg EPA and 167mg DHA — a meaningfully higher combined dose at the same capsule count.
Who is this product for?
+
Anyone who wants adequate EPA and DHA without the problems of fish oil. This includes vegans and vegetarians who couldn't take fish oil at all, people who are halal-observing, anyone who has experienced fishy burps or GI upset from fish oil, and anyone who wants to know they're actually getting a therapeutic dose of omega-3 — not 70% filler fat.
How do I take it?
+
One softgel daily with food. Taking omega-3 with a meal improves absorption (fat-soluble nutrient). There's no specific time requirement — morning, midday, or evening all work. Consistency matters more than timing.
Korra Lab®'s algae — Schizochytrium and Nannochloropsis — are grown in controlled, sterile fermentation tanks. No ocean. No mercury. No microplastics. No PCBs. Just a direct, clean extraction of the same EPA and DHA nature intended.
Clinical research confirms: bioavailability of DHA and EPA from algae oil is statistically non-inferior to fish oil. You're not sacrificing effectiveness. You're upgrading the source.
