Why Do Dark Spots, Melasma and Hyperpigmentation Happen?

When sunlight hits your skin:

UV rays penetrate your skin — especially in spots where sunscreen didn’t cover well — they cause stress and UV damage inside your skin cells. Your skin’s “defense system” reacts by making extra melanin (that’s the pigment that gives you skin colour).

Too much melanin in one spot = a dark spot (like freckles, sun spots, or patches).

Korra Lab’s Oral Sunscreen works from the inside like armour for your cells. It's built around 480 mg of Polypodium leucotomos pure-leaf extract — same extraction method that has been clinically studied at Harvard Medical School.

We went further with 9 clinically backed ingredients:

Antioxidants (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Glutathione, Pomegranate, Polypodium)
👉 Act like firefighters putting out the “fires” (oxidative stress) caused by UV. Less stress = less melanin trigger.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
👉 Stops melanin from clumping together in patches, so skin tone looks more even.

Glutathione + L-Cystine
👉 Tell your skin to make lighter, less pigmented melanin, so new spots fade and skin looks brighter.

Zinc + Selenium
👉 Work like repair crews, helping your skin cells fix DNA damage from UV before it causes problems.

Less redness, fewer flare-ups, and reduced pigmentation after sun exposure.

Unlike other brands that rely on bark or whole-plant extracts, Korra Lab uses a pure leaf-only extract. Aligns with Harvard Medical School's study.

Good so far. curious to see more results

Took this for pigmentation. Can’t say I’ve seen a dramatic difference yet, but my skin definitely feels less irritated after being in the sun. Might need more time.

Finally found something that helps my melasma

I have melasma and I’m always paranoid about the sun making it worse. After 6 weeks, I feel like my dark spots haven’t deepened even though I’ve been outside a lot. Didn’t fade them completely (that’s asking too much), but I like that it’s extra insurance hahaha

More even skin tone

Grateful to try this as one of the first pilot users, the process has been smooth and the product feels promising. My skin tone looks a little more even, and I love knowing I’m protected from the inside out.

Great extra protection for sensitive skin

I’m super sensitive after laser treatments, and this has been a lifesaver. My doctor recommended extra protection, and this really helps calm redness faster.

FAQ

On top of combining 9 clinically-research ingredients, our Polypodium leucotomos extract is extracted from the leaves of the plant - align with studies from Harvard Medical School.

A lot of other brands dont have the same component, it's done with extracts from the branches or other parts, and lacks research/potency behind it since the main ingredient or works is from the leaf.

No. Think of this as your raincoat, while sunscreen is your umbrella. Sunscreen blocks UV rays on the surface, and UV Defence + Radiance works from the inside to reduce redness, pigmentation, and DNA damage if rays slip through. They work best together.

Because real life isn’t perfect. People often:

• Forget to reapply sunscreen
• Miss spots like scalp, ears, or back of hands
• Sweat or swim off their SPF

UV Defence + Radiance fills these gaps by giving your skin inside-out protection all day long.

  • Redness & sunburn from daily UV exposure
  • Pigmentation & dark spots made worse by the sun
  • Collagen breakdown & premature aging caused by UV and pollution
  • Oxidative stress at the cellular level that sunscreen alone can’t address

No — it’s for anyone who wants stronger, more resilient skin. It’s especially helpful if you:

• Spend lots of time outdoors
• Have sensitive skin or pigmentation issues
• Have had skin treatments and want added protection

Topical SPF = surface shield.
UV Defence + Radiance = cellular shield.
Together, they give you comprehensive defence against UV damage.

Not in an artificial way. It helps shift melanin to lighter pigments, fade dark spots, and promote a more even, radiant tone.

Yes, especially Polypodium leucotomos extract — has been extensively researched by institutions including Harvard Medical School for its protective effects against UV and oxidative damage. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or on medication, consult your doctor first.
